SAFETY & SUPPORT · FIRST STEPS

What can you do when you feel the urge to chase losses?

After a loss, there can be a strong thought that the next gamble will quickly reverse the situation. This is a moment to reduce the number of further decisions and create physical and financial distance from gambling.

End the session first

Close the website or app. Do not increase the stake or make another deposit. The goal is not to make a 'better' gambling decision, but to interrupt a chain of decisions made under pressure.

Make another deposit harder

Remove saved payment methods, check available transaction blocks, and use a time-out or self-exclusion if those tools are available. The more steps there are between you and the next gamble, the more time you have to regain perspective.

Do not try to recover a loss through more gambling

A previous loss does not increase the chance of a future win. Another bet does not repay the previous result. If thoughts about chasing losses keep returning, treat them as a warning sign.

Tell someone what is happening

A short message to someone you trust can help break isolation and reduce the pressure of handling everything alone. If you feel the situation is getting out of control, seek professional support as well.

This is not a diagnosis.

If gambling affects your safety, finances, health, or relationships, or you find it difficult to stop despite deciding to do so, seek professional help. If there is an immediate threat to health or life, contact the local emergency services where you are.
